Dave A. Bardal – Winnipeg, MB

David A. Bardal is a senior financial planner with Assante Financial Management Limited in Winnipeg.  He has been involved with the MS Society of Canada since 1997, serving as chair of the Manitoba Division board of directors and a member of the national board and chair of its strategic planning committee.

Over the years David has known several people with MS, particularly a young woman who babysat his oldest child many years ago. “Later on she had one of the worst cases of MS ever known in Canada – she was diagnosed with MS and died within a matter of a year and a half,” mentions David.  

His wife and another family member are affected by the rare autoimmune neuromuscular disease, myasthenia gravis (MG). While MG is different from MS, he thinks that it is very important to find the cause and cure for MS so that we can proceed to work on finding the cure for other autoimmune and neurological diseases like MG and Parkinson’s. 

“I really believe that we will find the cure for MS in my lifetime,” says David. “If any of these diseases has a chance of being cured, it is MS, and that will make it possible to achieve breakthroughs with the others.”
