Daniel Larouche - Montreal, PQ
“The MS Society of Canada is a remarkable organization that is capable of achieving all the objectives it sets,” claims Daniel Larouche, who has been a dedicated volunteer for 20 years.
Daniel Larouche first committed to the MS cause when one of his close relatives was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. His first fundraising event was the Quebec Division RONA MS Bike Tour. In subsequent bike tours, he raised over $100,000. He was invited to sit on the Quebec Division board of directors as a volunteer and chaired the board until 2003. He then joined the Society’s national board of directors and is currently its past chair.
A communications specialist, Mr. Larouche was the right man to convince the Quebec government of the need to add interferon to its list of covered prescription drugs. This goal was achieved in 1996.
He firmly believes that the cure for MS will be found in the next few years: he has been part of the endMS Campaign since the project began. He had no hesitation in lending his personal support to the campaign, and has become one of the country’s major donors. |
