Michael Augustine

Michael Augustine

Michael Augustine has been a full-time volunteer and spokesperson for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada for over 10 years. Diagnosed with MS at the young age of 22, and having to leave college, he chose to make the greater Toronto area his home, and began seeking new challenges to pursue. By chance, he read a flier for the WALK for MS in early 1996, and decided to get involved. Having been inspired by seeing so many people come together to find a cure, he returned again for two more years. In 1998, having overheard a staff member mention that a volunteer had not shown up, and eagerly offered his services. He has never looked back.

Since then, he has served 6 years as a chapter director, has also been co-chair of the Mississauga MS Walk for 3 years, and was vice-chair of the Ontario Division PALMS committee (Public Awareness and Learning About MS) for it’s full tenure. He also attends almost every major provincial and national fundraising event for the MS Society, as well as having made appearances through nearly every Ontario and National media outlet, speaking about his ongoing struggles, and serving to inspire others to do their best to help themselves themselves and others.

Michael is now embracing a new role as ambassador and correspondent for the MS Society of Canada. Michael currently lives in Mississauga, ON.
