A&W and GlobalTV: a combo made to order

August 21, 2009 Michael AugustineLisez en Francais

I had only just published my first A&W blog regarding the August 27th Teen Burger promotion, when minutes later I received a call from the MS Society media department. It seemed Global Television, one of the nation’s largest broadcasters and a strong ally in our fight to end MS, was looking to shoot a PSA (Public Service Announcement) regarding this promotion, and were very keen to have someone living with MS be on air with a news personality.

Guess who they asked? And no, it’s not Montel Williams...

I returned home from filming the promotional spot to be aired across the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) mere days from now. I, along with Global TV Weather Specialist Bill Coulter, spent the morning running through take-after-take, all to make sure that the message gets out loud and clear, that there are now more ways than ever to help end MS.

Under the watchful eye of network producer Morgan Roebuck, we created a tasty treat which I feel will tickle the taste buds of people everywhere and give them an appetite to do what they can to help the MS Society of Canada in our mission to find a cause and cure for multiple sclerosis.

And as if that wasn’t enough, we finished off the morning shoot with a free lunch for our tight-knit crew, courtesy of Mr. Frank Landi, regional manager for the A&W restaurant where we were filming. We were even treated to a frosty mug of A&W root beer.

Who’d have ever guessed that volunteering could be so satisfying in so many ways!

Irreverently yours,
Aug, who’s “appetite” for volunteering is satisfied - for now...

Augie, We both did it, the bike tour that is. You said you would be waiting for me at the finish line and sure enough you were there. You were even wearing a jersey too like mine, I saw that finger point at me and I knew it was you waiting for me. Anyhow I hope you had a big a blast this year as I did.
