The endMS Gala in support of multiple sclerosis research happened again this past week. Over 250 people were in attendance, including many of Bay Street’s most illustrious financial personalities.
This marks the first year for the event as it was formerly known as the LOM Gala. The black tie affair encouraged everyone to wear their finest formal duds, but to spice it up with the colour red, the official colour of the MS Society, to honour our commitment to do whatever we can to end MS.
Yours truly had the distinguished honour of greeting each participant as they entered the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Toronto where the event was held. It was truly heartwarming to see their smiling faces as I met those dedicated individuals, all of whom were determined to make our dream a world without multiple sclerosis a reality.
Over $414,000 was raised by jovial people enjoying an evening of fine food, exciting auctions, and dazzling entertainment by the Anita Rossi Band (who I can personally say kicked it old school and sounded amazing). VIPs in attendance included: Rick Waugh, President and CEO of Scotiabank; our own Yves Savoie, President and CEO of the MS Society; Ken Mayhew, Chief Development Officer, and the wonderful Garrett Herman, Chairman and CEO of Loewen, Ondaatje, McCutcheon Limited, the patron firm responsible for the evening’s festivities.
Here’s to next year, and a new ongoing tradition that marks a future free from MS.
Irreverently Yours,
Aug, who’s already looking forward to next year.
