My voyage to reach Mount Everest Base Camp for Fall 2010 is now underway.
I have begun in earnest to consider exactly what I will need to make it up the mountain, and how I will reach my fundraising goal of $100,000. I have already received commitments from several people close to me to donate as much as they can. In addition, I have received more than one corporate commitment, as was spoken about in a previous blog entry.
What makes this voyage particularly inspiring is that people have been coming out of the woodwork to provide knowledgeable, experienced advice on how to prepare and what equipment will be best suited for my trek. I am grateful to those individuals who will be essential in helping me to represent the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, and people everywhere living with MS with dignity and pride.
My next step is to make a list of potential corporate and private donors who might help me in my quest to become one of the few people living with multiple sclerosis to do this climb. If anyone out there wishes to make a donation, you may do so via my personal fundraising page here. Please also feel free to add your notes of encouragement, or to pass on this information to friends, family and coworkers who might be interested in assisting me to achieve my dream.
No one ever made the impossible happen who didn’t have help along the way. Like Miley Cyrus says in her song:
“... it ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side,
It’s the climb!”
Irreverently Yours,
Aug, who thanks you for your support.
