“C’mon - Sleep take me soon...”

July 25, 2008 Michael AugustineLisez en Francais

As I sit here, it is roughly 3:30 in the morning and I have been awake since at least before 2 a.m. Lately I have had trouble sleeping. I attribute it to equal parts stress, physical discomfort, a lousy mattress and, today, of course, it’s also due to my excitement. Yes, later today, I am off for the first RONA MS Bike Tour of 2008!

JOY!!!

The weather may or may not be in agreement with our humble event, but I am optimistic that a little (or a lot...) of rain will still not dampen the spirits of our champions, who make their way to the finish line after having  traveled more than 170 kilometers throughout southern Ontario. For those of you not familiar with the geography of our neck of the woods, it varies from densely treed and very hilly, to sparse, and flat as a pancake - and that’s just the parts we have yet to pave. Therefore, these brave men and women of cyclic mobility will have their work cut out for them.

I’ll be sure to update you all afterwards on what exactly happened. In the meanwhile - go to bed. I’ll try to do the same. I have a big day tomorrow, and sitting at the finish line while sound asleep is not a good way to cheer people in. I also have to bake some 200 cookies before I leave to feed the staff, so I will smell joyously of chocolate when I arrive.

It could be worse...

Irreverently Yours,

Aug, who is looking forward to smelling of cocoa bean by-product
