Winter is finally a thing of the past, and Spring is now in full bloom. With Spring comes May, and with May comes MS Awareness Month. Every year at this time, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada turns its focus for a full month towards educating the public on what multiple sclerosis is, the impact it has on our society, and what is being done in the fight to end MS! With between 55,000 to 75,000 Canadians living with this disease, we are one of the most affected countries in the world, with 1 out of every 2 Canadians knowing somebody who lives with MS.
This year, the MS Society of Canada will present carnations to Members of Parliament as they enter the House of Commons for Question Period on Wednesday May 6th. As well, Mother’s day weekend will mark the return of the annual MS Carnation Campaign. The carnation is the official flower of the MS Society and you will be able to purchase a bouquet or potted plant at several locations near you. Call your local chapter to find out more.
Also, be sure to register for the MS Research Teleconference, happening Wednesday, May 20 from 6-8 PM, EST.
For further details on events happening near you, log on to mssociety.ca and go to your local chapter’s webpage. You can also check the official MS Society of Canada MS Awareness Month website.
Remember, together, we really CAN end MS!
Irreverently Yours,
Aug, who thinks good things are blooming
