Helping us to run smoothly...

May 04, 2009 Michael AugustineLisez en Francais

I’ve long since stopped being surprised by the diversity of the people whose lives have been touched by multiple sclerosis. It is a statistical fact that 1 in every 2 Canadians knows somebody with MS. That means that everywhere you look you will find people who know what it is like to live with this disease. But it also means that no matter where you look you will find allies in our goal to end MS. One such ally is Mr. Lube.

After more than 32 years and 32 million customers served, Mr. Lube has more customers and more locations than any other automotive maintenance services provider in the country. Imagine then the incredible difference their dedication will make when you realize that on May 9th, and in homage to MS Awareness Month, Mr. Lube will dedicate $5 for every single oil change made towards helping the MS Society of Canada realize its mission to be a leader in finding a cure for multiple sclerosis, and to enable people affected by MS to enhance their quality of life.

With the miserable dreariness of winter fading quickly, it’s the perfect time to bring your car in to Mr. Lube and have it treated with a little tender loving care by one of their trained and qualified experts. Check out their website to find the one nearest you. With almost 100 locations from coast to coast, we now have more ways than ever to help in the fight to end MS.

Remember: generosity is the lubricant that makes society run well!

Together, we really CAN end MS!

Irreverently Yours,

Aug, who likes it when things run this smoothly

With all due respect for your experience and efforts, I feel compelled to comment from a holistic perspective. I feel that all serious diseases have a underlying component of toxicity and nutritional deficiency or inbalance and that these factors cannot and should not be ignored. Stress of all kinds is obviously a factor as well! A minimum wage job at a large department store might be one source of stress, eating poor quality food from a fast food restaurant on a regular or semi regular basis might be another. Drinking water loaded with chlorine etc, breathing air full of particulates, eating food laced with pesticides, the list goes on and on. Sometimes the most enthusiastic contributors to charity and fundraising are the very culprits implicated in the collective disease producing terrain. When organic farmers are up against corporate giants that play with our food supply we are clearly not on a level playing field. Common sense will tell you that people controlling our food supply will water down the definition of 'organic' to further their own ends. Do you trust your food to people that sell the cheapest televisions made in China. Thankyou for this opportunity to express myself. I wish you and everyone happiness and the best of health. What is the latest research showing on Vitamin D and MS. Respectfully , Carson.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. You are correct. As we become more aware of the world around us, we also become increasingly cognizant of just how delicate a balance things are kept in. While I do not disagree with the facts you are stating, the important thing to realize is that companies and even people at large are ever more astute in recognizing this balance, and ARE taking steps to address the repercussions of their effects on the world. Mr. Lube is doing just that by playing a role in helping us to end MS. While the world is not perfect (nor will it ever be), we can take satisfaction that change is already happening. We simply need to keep the momentum going. Thanks again for commenting and here is a link to some of latest on MS and vitamin D: http://bit.ly/160NwH
